Snow day at NDSU!

Hey there folks, my name is Jonnah (John-nah) Lee. I am a freshman in the Pre-Architecture program, and yes it has been a busy but very exciting year! My future plans hopefully include getting into the architecture program… I find out on May 29 if I made the cut or if I have to change up my future plans.

I was born and raised in Velva, North Dakota. My parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents were also born and raised in Velva, so you could say my roots run deep. I belong to a farm family, which consists of me and my three brothers. We all  work on the farm but do not live on the farm.

My Dad and two older brothers attended NDSU to study Crop and Weed Science, so I decided to study something different for a change. If you’re wondering, “why architecture?” I will tell you that it started in the 5th grade when I was reading the Percy Jackson series. My favorite character was Annabeth -architect of Olympus and daughter of Athena. It helped that I was into drawing and also building cool forts on games like Minecraft… kind of geeky? I know.

On the other hand, I really enjoy playing sports in my free time. Within these two semesters I was involved with intramural basketball and volleyball, both co-ed and girls’ teams. If I don’t have an intramural game I will still try to get to the wellness to workout. I also enjoy being outdoors (in the summers anyway), one of my favorite summer hobbies is canoeing on the river that runs right through my front yard at home.

I am looking forward to exploring the world and experiencing the art of European architecture in real life. Of course I am excited about trying new food and meeting new people too!
